About The Journal
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy
The Journal of Rasafat is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and scholarly transparency. As Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools become increasingly integrated into the research and writing process, this policy provides clear guidelines for their ethical and permissible use in manuscript preparation and submission.
1. Permitted Uses of AI Tools
Authors may responsibly utilize AI-based tools (e.g., Large Language Models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and specialized tools like Grammarly, QuillBot, etc.) for supportive tasks that do not compromise intellectual contribution or scientific validity. Acceptable uses include:
- Language Enhancement (For grammar correction, spelling checks, and improving sentence clarity and readability without altering the core academic meaning or technical content).
- Manuscript Structuring (Assisting in organizing ideas, developing outlines, or improving the logical flow of a draft).
- Reference Management (Aiding in the formatting or organization of citations and reference lists, provided all cited sources are authentic and have been directly consulted by the authors).
- Translation Assistance (Initial translation of text, with the requirement that the final version is thoroughly reviewed and verified by the authors for accuracy and nuance).
2. Prohibited Uses of AI Tools
The following applications of AI are strictly prohibited, as they undermine authorship accountability and scientific rigor:
- Substantive Content Generation (Using AI to generate entire sections of the manuscript e.g., literature reviews, methodological descriptions, discussions, conclusions, or substantial portions of text that form the core academic argument or findings).
- Data Fabrication or Manipulation (Employing AI to create, simulate, or alter research data, datasets, experimental results, or visual representations of findings).
- Citation Fabrication (Using AI to generate fictitious references, citations, or bibliographic entries).
- Non-Disclosure (Submitting any manuscript where AI-assisted content is not explicitly and transparently acknowledged).
3. Authorship and Accountability
AI tools cannot be listed as an author or co-author. Authorship implies intellectual leadership, responsibility, and accountability for the work, which AI systems cannot hold.
The human authors retain full and ultimate responsibility for the entire content of the manuscript, including any portions developed with AI assistance. This includes ensuring the accuracy of information, the validity of arguments, and the correctness of references.
4. Mandatory Disclosure and Transparency
To ensure transparency, any use of AI tools in the manuscript preparation process must be explicitly disclosed in a dedicated statement within the Acknowledgments section or, where directly relevant to methodology, in the Methods section.
The disclosure must specify:
- The name(s) of the AI tool(s) used.
- The specific purpose(s) of their use (e.g., "for language polishing," "to improve readability," "for initial translation").
- The publisher and version of the tool (if known).
Example Disclosure: "During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [Tool Name, e.g., ChatGPT version 4.0, developed by OpenAI] to [specify purpose, e.g., improve sentence clarity and for language editing]. After using this tool, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication."
5. Consequences for Policy Violation
Manuscripts found to violate this policy will be subject to immediate rejection. If a violation is discovered after publication, it may lead to a correction, retraction, or a formal expression of concern. Serious breaches may result in notification to the authors' institutions and a prohibition on future submissions to the journal.
The editorial board of The Journal of Rasafat reserves the right to investigate suspected cases of non-compliance and take appropriate action in line with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
